OUR NEW TEAM MEMBERS IN HOME BUILDING?

​Last week our two boys, Hayden 11 and Griffin 8, put on their boots and coats, then went to workOur New Team Members in Home Building? with dad at our Twin Pines community.  They have been doing this with dad for a few years.  Rick enjoys this time with them teaching them about his business and how important team work is and teach our boys his answer to the question, why build with Echelon Homes?

When Rick got into the new home building business I was the person cleaning the homes and sweeping out the garage on my days off from my other job.  It has been a long time since then.

​Were the boys excited to go?  Honestly, no.  It was a cold day in Michigan and they were on Spring Break.  They went anyway, dad does not ask them to go help him very often.  If you drove through Twin Pines in Lyon Township last week you may have seen them cleaning up around the site or sweeping out some of the garages for our new home owners.  You have to start somewhere.

I promise we do have a professional company clean all of our new homes before our customers move in.  However, this is what Rick likes to do with them.  He was raised working on the family farm, and he worked along with his family there.  Griffin plans on playing hockey for the Red Wings and Hayden is going to play football for the Patriots, “or make video games, mom”.  They do need something to fall back on you know.

​Last Tuesday may have been “Take Your Child to Work Day” at the Elkow house and I hope they had fun hanging out with their dad and seeing some of what he does all day.  So if you see some boys sweeping homes under construction in our subdivision in Lyon Township or at The Hills of Loon Lake in Commerce Township give them a wave, it may be our boys.

These two may be building new homes with Echelon Homes someday, that is if they are not scoring goals on the ice or making touchdowns on the grassy turf in some big games, while creating video games in their spare time.  Happy Monday and I hope my boys have a fantastic first day back at school.  It may be easier than a day of work with dad…
