Check out these great indoor and outdoor activities to maximize family fun whether rain or shine in Southeast Michigan! Hot-air balloons fly above Howell each summer at the annual Michigan Challenge Balloonfest! Photo courtesy of michiganchallenge.com Brighton’s Imagination Station Located in the heart of downtown Brighton, this 10,000 square foot playground is loaded with wooden play structures that enable children of every age to fulfill their ultimate fairy tale fantasies. While kids explore, adults can stroll the tranquil Mill Pond or tread across the Tridge; a three spiked bridge and 1/2 mile nature walkway including an adjacent gazebo. Summer evenings sizzle on Sunday nights with free gazebo concerts in the new performance shelter. The Imagination Station a favorite of visitors and residents alike. The Cranbrook Institute of Science in Bloomfield Hills Discover the universe around you at the Cranbrook Institute of Science—the best place to explore science, technology and natural history. Learn how planets orbiting other stars are discovered and marvel at many wonders including Bat Zone. Enjoy free admission courtesy of the MASCO Corporation Foundation on Friday, June 5th only from 5 until 10 pm. The Observatory is open, and planetarium and bat shows are offered at an additional charge. Check out all of the programs offered this summer such as Camp after Dark. Dinosauria at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak Take a prehistoric dose of Vitamin Z at the Detroit Zoo! The Dinosauria exhibit is back for 2015 and features 40 lifelike animatronic dinosaurs that spit, snarl and move to provide a thrilling experience for visitors of all ages. Fowlerville Family Fair This year’s Fowlerville Family Fair will be July 27 through August 1. The community country fair includes a carnival, monster truck shows, 4-H exhibits, Homemaker of the Year and Fair Queen competitions, vendor displays, rodeo exhibitions and more! The Livingston Centre Historical Village will also be open and includes eight historic buildings ranging from an 1870s harness shop to a 1910 barbershop. Learn more. High-Flying Fun in Howell Things will heat up in Howell June 26, 27 and 28 during the annual Michigan Challenge Balloonfest! Enjoy a hot air balloon fly-in, art fair, carnival, stunt kite demonstrations and live tours.
