![]() Commerce Township floor plans for a new homeYou don’t need to be an architect, a civil engineer, or a home builder to understand floor plans for a new home. Though you’ll need to use some imagination to envision your completed home, floor plans get you off to a great start. In fact, there may be previously constructed or model units already available. Though you can tour a variety of floor plans for new homes physically, let’s start with the drawings. The Basics of Floor Plans for a New Home Usually the count of bedrooms, bathrooms, and square footage is listed in a sidebar. If it’s not, calculate the size and count these critical rooms, or ask your builder. These numbers will tell you quickly whether a floor plan can support your family comfortably. Dimensions on floor plans are often approximate but give you a good idea of relative room scale and clearances. The Bird’s-Eye Versus Elevation View of Floor Plans for a New Home Ideally, you’ll be offered both an aerial view and an artist’s rendering of your new home from the curbside. Overhead views are presented on the two dimensional page with each floor in a separate section. Elevation views often depict a full color sketch to show the curbside appeal of different architectural features. Check Out the Optional Additional Features on Floor Plans for a New Home On the drawing, you will see the word “optional” for additional features you can request from the builder to ensure the home you get meets your unique standards. For example, cathedral versus tray ceilings are an option in many master bedrooms. A sunroom may be selected for a beautiful reading and/or entertaining area in any season. Flex rooms can be turned into additional bedrooms or media rooms depending on your family’s needs.
